The Tree and the Moon

Description

:icondonotuseplz::iconmyartplz:

Just like in a cruel love story, the tree and the moon are destined to pass by each other every day with no hope of ever meeting. Like the girl you fall hopelessly in love with as you catch a fleeting glance of her hair. She walks away, never to return. The memory remains, but with a deeper sense of mystery; and dreams of what could have been, if only a chance was given.

Sorry about that, just had to get it out... and moving on.

OK, so here it is... There is nothing more I want to do with it. And I'm happy about it.

Materials used & time spent:

Done with 3mm hb and b mechanical pencil, 4b graphite pencil, a small amount of charcoal and tortillons for blending.
All together it took me roughly 10 hours.

Edit (10-28-11): I have added some contrast and detail to the mountains and foreground, and left the natural color for a more neutral tone. Nothing major, but I guess it puts my completion time closer to 13 hours.

Well, for one. Despite some of the other critiques I've read through. I do know that the moon can still be out during the day light hours, (Hence why we have Lunar Eclipses) not that it matters. Very amazing detail can be seen in the far left portion of the hill. I can actually see the tree bark, making the tree all that more realistic. The moon is very well done and so is the ground and other accessories. Now, I did find one or two things that COULD be improved. Things such as the defining between the sky and the moon as well as perhaps putting a few clouds or stars in the sky to help decipher between day and night. I'm not quite sure if you purposely faded the hill as you went more towards the right portion of the piece; thus creating a misty or fog-like environment. You indeed, have a very creative and detailed mind. Keep up the amazing work <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
